Dixie Cup XXX Schedule

All times are DCDT... Dixie Cup Daylight Time! What is "Dixie Cup Standard Time?" The short explanation of that is: Things happen when we get to them. We try to ensure a workable schedule, but sometimes judging gets in the way of the event schedule and judging always comes first for us.

The Dixie Cup hotel is the Crowne Plaza Northwest-Brookhollow 12801 Northwest Freeway, Houston, Texas 77040.

Thursday, October 17th:

7:00 p.m. Welcoming reception at Dixie Cup hotel. John, Chris and maybe Geoff should be able to make this. There will be food (Barbecue) offered here as well, as well as beer. This will wrap up by about 9:00 - 10:00 p.m.

Friday, October 18th:

No events before noon.

At Noon, we will start judging the remainder of our first round entries. Judging will continue until first round is completed, (hopefully before...)
8:00 p.m. - Potluck dinner... IF first round judging is wrapped up.
9:00 p.m. - Raffle and silent auction.
9:30-10:00 p.m. The Fred Tasting, Hosted by Randy Mosher. This is a food and beer pairing that was started by Fred Eckhardt back in the 80's and which Randy has been kind enough to host for us, since Fred has retired from this dubious honor!
After hours, you're on your own to get into trouble, don't blame us.

Saturday, October 19th:

8:30 a.m. Allegedly we drink more barleywine before 9:00 a.m. than most people drink all day... This is what happens when we try to prove it.
9:00 a.m. Milliconference! A short technical session to educate and amuse our homebrewing brethren. Chris White of White Labs will open for us, followed by John Palmer, Author of How to Brew (and the new Water book) and Geoff Larson the owner and founder of Alaskan Brewing. Depending on the length of the presentations, the goal is to start each by the quarter hour (9:15, 10:15, 11:15) and end each on the hour. 10:00, 11:00, Noon.
After the presentations, we anticipate an opportunity to purchase books by these noted authors and also have them signed. Noon - Second round judging starts and judges may grab some lunch in the hospitality room. 4:30 p.m. - Pub crawl departs IF judging is completed!
5:00 p.m. - Best of Show judging commences (The length of this is highly variable, but typically runs about an hour and a half.)
9:30 p.m. - Pub Crawl returns
10:00 p.m. Raffle, silent auction and Divine Reserve ring toss.
10:30 - 11:00 Awards Ceremony begins!
Midnight - Dixie Cup (technically) ends.

Sunday, October 20th:

Liver recovery begins, transportation of guests to airport(s) and truck cleanup at DeFalco's
