2017 Dixie Cup Judging

First Round Judging

First round judging begins at 9 AM on Sunday, October 1.

  • 9 AM, Sunday, October 1 (lunch provided - morning and afternoon sessions)
  • 6 PM Tuesday, October 3
  • 9 AM on Sunday, October 8 (lunch provided - morning and afternoon sessions)
  • 6 PM Tuesday, October 10
  • 9 AM Sunday, October 15 (lunch provided - morning and afternoon sessions)
  • 6 PM Tuesday, October 17.
  • 9 AM Sunday, October 22.
  • 6 PM Tuesday, October 24.
First round judging concludes at the hotel beginning at noon on Friday, October 27. The first round of judging will be used to eliminate obviously flawed beers and completely judge small categories.

All first round judging (other than the October 27 session) will be held at the same location as prior years (2000 Lyons Ave., Houston, TX 77020.) For directions, please contact Janine Weber at dixiecup@foamrangers.com.

You are encouraged to participate in one of the first-round judging sessions. You do not need to be an experienced judge, you will be paired with a BJCP certified judge. You will meet some great people and sample some amazing beers.

Second Round Judging

Second round judging will begin immediately following the milli-conference Saturday morning, at the hotel, and will be used to determine ranking within each category. All sub-categories of each major category will be judged against each other, each according to its own style guidelines.

Lunch will be provided to judges on Saturday afternoon to help you get through the judging.

Best-of-Show Judging

The Best of Show judging, consisting of the first place winners from each category, will take place at the hotel during the pub crawl.
